TOPINKA’S OFFICE HELPS RESCUE TREASURED PETS

Illinois State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka has teamed up with several pet adoption centers throughout the State to establish the Treasured Pets Program to find caring families to welcome new friends into their hearts and their homes.

“There are so many of our animal friends waiting to become new additions to a loving home,” said Topinka. “That is why the Treasurer’s Office, through the Treasured Pets Program, established a web site featuring a selection of dogs and cats waiting introduction to a loving family,” she added. The animal friends up for adoption will be highlighted on the State Treasurer’s Office website at www.state.il.us/treas.

Pet adoption centers participating in the program are no-kill humane organizations and include Pets are Worth Saving (PAWS) in Chicago; Assisi Animal Foundation, in Crystal Lake; the Animal Protective League (APL) in Springfield and the Quad City Animal Welfare in Milan.

“Since the onset of the Treasured Pets Program, we are proud to announce that we have helped 22 dogs and 9 cats find loving adoptive families,” said Topinka. “ As an animal lover and pet owner myself, I encourage everyonc to join my fricnds at PAWS, Assisi, APL and Quad City Animal Welfare Center in becoming apart ofthc Treasured Pets team and welcome anew animal companion in your life. You can also obtain adoption information directly through the adoption center web sites at PAWS www.pawschicago.org; Assisi - www.assisi.org; Animal Protective League - www.springfield-illinois.com/apl/ and the Quad City Animal Welfare Center - www.qcawc.org.

The adoption centcrs will also facilitate a pcrsonal introduction so intcrcstcd individuals can mcct their new friend before they decide to adopt. Just drop by one of the Adoption Centers listed below and look for the Treasured Pets logo to find that adorable dog or cat you found online.
