NPP North America Congress Ends in Chicago Amid Success Dr. Aaron Ohemeng CHICAGO:- On behalf of all Chicagoans that showed up September 13 for the NPP North America 7th Annual Congress Dinner Dance, I would like to congratulate my fellow party members in Chicago, the delegates from US and Canada as well the general public that showed their tremendous support. It was quite amazing at the turnout. It indicates how far we have matured as a democratic people. I looked around and saw many well-wishers including members from the opposition party NDC. When we started putting the itinerary together, little did we anticipate such a turnout as we had about 70 delegates from outside Chicago that flew to participate in the Congress. I also would like to extend warm wishes to the Ministers and party officials namely, Hon. J. H. Mensah, Senior Minister and Head of the Economic Team, Mr. Dan Botwe, General Secretary of NPP, Hon. Sheik I. C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Paddy Adjirakor, Ministry of Trade and Industry that came from Ghana for the Congress. As chairman of the Chicago Chapter, my sincere accolades to go members Mr. Seth Nkansa, Mr. Richard Coffie, Dr. Ken Annan, Mr. Kofi Nantwi, Mr. Samuel Walker, Mr. Martin Dade Bonsu, Mr. Abedi Boakye, Mr. Sampson Akotuah, Mr. Kofi Amoabin, Mr. Francis Oduro, Barima Osei Kwabena Abebrese, Mr. David Antwi-Boakye and Mr. Kwabena Antwi-Barfi. My sincere gratitude also goes to my wife Mrs. Janet Ohemeng whose serviceable disposition accommodated many of the delegates. In addition, I would extend my thanks to Dr. Iddrisu Abdallah Yahaya, Gen. Sec. for Ghana National Council, Mr. Kofi Jantuah and His United African Dance Ensemble and Adwoa Yeboah for their cheerful and delightful cultural displays. We also would like to thank Ghana Community Church for providing thanskgiving service for the ministers, delegates and well-wishers.. The Congress was held under the premise of the 2004 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections and what we in North America would play. It is important to participate even though you have no party affiliation; you are still a Ghanaian and the welfare of Ghana in our own hands. I would to congratulate the new NPP North American Branch leaders that were elected during the Congress. Once again, Chicagoans have proved that we are number one when it comes organizing events such as these. As we know, for Ghana to be stable, we need cooperation from all members of the society, regardless of where you reside. It was just incredible to see and meet the staunch party members who have devoted their times for the party’s cause. For all those in attendance, we wish you could always support all our endeavors. When it comes to party politics, we need all hands on deck. Contact the party at 708-848-6166 if you have any questions concerning the upcoming 2004 elections. See below for pictures. |
