BLACK MAN, DIFFERENT COUNTRY, SAME RESULTS

Mitcham, London: Another young Black life wasted. Racism has a way of making head waves. All over the world, instances of Black people treated unfairly by justice systems dominate headlines. Seeking out the perpetrators and making sure they are punished however, proves tougher than the act of the crimes that are committed.

Since and during the slavery period when blacks were used as target practices for gun-toting marauders, never has the violation of our civil rights been so rampant in the world. We have had so many trailblazing cases such as that of Steve Biko and Rodney King among others. The latest addition is that of a young man whose case hits so close to home.

22nd INT’L REGGAE & WORLD MUSIC AWARDS NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

CHICAGO, IL – The long-awaited nominations in the upcoming 22nd International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) were announced March 5, 2003 at a press conference hosted by Martin’s Inter-Culture at the Hammerstein Manhattan Center, 311 W. 34th St. Manhattan, New York City, N. Y.

Some one hundred and fifty reggae and world music-recording artists were nominated and elected for special awards in forty categories. Leading nominees and special awardees announced included: Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Luciano, Morgan Heritage, Wayne Wonder, Bounty Killer, Alpha Blondy, Tony Rebel, Buju Banton, Freddy McGregor and Sanchez.
