American Government and Political System

llinois State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka (left) welcomes Mr. Hermenegildo Avellino from Angola, one of eighteen students who was in attendance at the Fulbright American Studies Institute. The Treasurer spoke with students about State Government and her role as a constitutional officer in Illinois.

“Each of you, as individuals are here to participate in a free exchange of thoughts and ideas that allow us to work together as global citizens to educate one another,” said Topinka. “Today, it is my hope that you will become educated on the role the Treasurer’s office has within the state of Illinois.” Each year, the Fulbright Institute provides Scholars form around the world with the opportunity to learn about the American Government and Political System through a-six-week traveling program.
