this incredible achievement, Baba Olu and Ms. Alice Tetteh, proprietors
of the establishment, called on friends and patrons alike to help them
celebrate this joyous occasion. A whole day event, patrons and well-wishers
could be seen entering in and out of the shop. Even as they rounded up
for the day, people would still be strolling in. Dan Boadi Celebrates 50th Anniversary By The Journalist He has served the Chicago’s Ghanaian community for over 25 years. His ubiquitous presence graces the stage and his gentle manner make him an icon in the community. For Dan Boadi, and his band Ghanatta, few African bands can have the distinction of saying they have served their communities in the US more than them. Having performed on three continents and the co-author of Ghana’s hits
‘Mmobrowa’ and ‘Abrabo,’ Boadi is also the former leader of Talkatives
and Big Mouth two of the major bands that emerged in Ghana during
the 70s and 80s. His latest album “Joe Boy” takes one on a music
trip that spans the musical genre of highlife, jazz soukous and reggae. The Short Century: Independence and Liberation Movements in Africa, 1945-1994 The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), Chicago, will present The Short
Century: Independence and Liberation Movements in Africa, 1945-1994,
