NOMMO GATHERING TO SHOWCASE BLACK WRITERS BLACK VOICES: On Monday, September 17th, the Nommo Gathering Black Writers Collective will present Chicago’s new literary voices during “KALIMA!” in a two-hour showcase at the Hot House, 31 E. Balbo beginning at 6 p.m. The showcase will feature live music from percussionist Sebastiao Apolinario, as well as original works of poetry, short fiction and prose exploring aspects of the “Black experience.” Featured writers include: Tendo Mutanda, Charles Willett, Vicki Stapleton, Shelly Conner, Veronica P. Bohanan, Tony Lindsay, John Fountain, Stephanie Gadlin, Michael Marsh, Summer Rogers, Sakira Dillard, Patricia Afua Johnson, and others. The donation is $3 and there is a two drink minimum.
