CHICAGO: A VERY UNFRIENDLY CITY FOR CAB DRIVERS By Kwadwo Kyei
Here is a little piece of advice for all of you aspiring cab drivers out there: stay away from Chicago if you can, or get into something else. If cab driving is all you want to do for a living, you will be better off elsewhere. Among the major cities in the U.S., Chicago has the dubious distinction of treating its cab drivers like dirt - this in spite of the enormous contribution cabbies make to the economic prosperity of the city. The problem is not so much the citizens as the city bureaucracy itself.
The attitude of the cab-riding public is nearly the same everywhere. From
New York to Washington to Atlanta, the public is disdainful of cab drivers,
for whatever reasons. However, cabbies quickly learn to take this negative
attitude of the public in stride, and they just carry on with their work.
But when you have a city government that seems to spend most of its time
looking for ways to harass cab drivers, then, as a cab driver, you have
a real problem on your hands.
UNDERSTANDING CHILDREN AND THEIR TEMPERAMENTS (PART VIII) By Pastor Amos Owoseni THE PHLEGMATIC CHILD The Phlegmatic child is very pliable and easy to manage. It is a sheer joy to raise one. He is by nature quiet, cool and easy going. He demands little attention as a baby. He may sleep or lie for hours without crying for food or attention. He may be slow at learning to talk. This is no sign that he is deaf. He is a spectacular in life and prefers to watch others move or act. The Phlegmatic is capable and will have much to benefit the society
if he is gently urged to get involved or he will whittle his many potentials.
