THIN PREP PAP TEST Sometime around August 2000, there was an advertisement on Channel 7 about the thin Prep Pap test that sought to educate the public about this test. I wonder how many of the people in community followed it. As a follow up to my previous articles on the Pap smear in the paper. I want to share the little knowledge I have with the public on this newly improved procedure of the Pap smear. To refresh your memories on the previous articles, the question was what is Pap smear? The answer to the question if you would remember was that the Pap smear
is a screening test that is used in finding signs of cervical cancer or
cells that have the potential of turning into cancer cells and that the
anatomical site of the cells is uterine cervix. This includes both the
ecto-cervix (the inner part of the cervix).
Camping/Picnic Food Safety tips Provided by Jewel-Osco Jewel-Osco is helping Chicagoland stay healthy this summer and minimize the risk of food borne illness with the following camping/picnic food safety tips, brought to you by Malissa Buoscio, M.S., R.D., C.D.E., registered dietician for Jewel-Osco. Plan Ahead . If traveling longer than 30 minutes with perishable food (such as meat, poultry, eggs and salads), place in a cooler with ice or freezer packs. .Store beverages and snacks in separate cooler so that the main food cooler is not opened frequently. Pack Safely .Meat and poultry may be packed while it is still frozen – that way it stays a colder longer. .A full cooler will maintain its cold temperatures longer than one that is partially filled. .If the cooler is only partially filled, pack the remaining space with
ice or with fruit and some-perishable foods such as peanut butter and
jelly or hard cheeses.
