AFRICAN/CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF LIFE HELD IN WASHINGTON PARK JULY 4-8

Featuring “Hands of Love”

CHICAGO — A galaxy of international reggae, African, gospel and world music entertainers will headline the upcoming 9th Annual African/Caribbean International Festival of Life. Produced by Martin’s Inter-Culture, Ltd., the star-studded Festival of Life, takes place Wednesday through Sunday, July 4-8, 2001, at Washington Park, 55th Street and South Cottage Grove, in Chicago, Illinois. The five-day Festival of Life is a celebration of the music, dance, art, crafts, cuisine and culture of Africa and the Caribbean. It attracts more than 100,000 people each year.

Cook County To Benefit from Law Enforcement Program

Communities in Cook County will benefit from a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) of $5,213,349 from the U.S. Department of Justice to support its pioneering crime-fighting initiative call Project B.A.D.G.E. (Balanced Approach to Drug and Gang Elimination). The program, administered o behalf of Cook County Board President John H. Stroger Jr. by the Cook County Judicial Advisory Council, is a cooperative effort with the City of Chicago.
