BOLINGBROOK RESIDENT SALLY MATTHEW, 12, GOES TO WASHINGTON AS ILLINOIS DELEGATE FOR JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION CHILDREN’S CONGRESS 2001

CHICAGO: - Sally Matthew, 12, is one of 200 children with diabetes from throughout the country who will take an emotional pilgrimage to Capitol Hill to remind congress and the administration of the critical need to find a cure for the insidious disease she lives with every day.

Sally, who lives in Bolingbrook, will represent Illinois in the Juvenile Diabetes research Foundation International (JDRF) Children’s Congress 2001 to be held in Washington D.C. from June 24 to 27. Children with Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes ages 2 to 17 on the nation’s capital to tell their stories and urge lawmakers to increase funds for diabetes research. The event will include Congressional visits by the child delegates and a Congressional hearing, where celebrity advocates, selected children delegates, researchers and business leaders will testify.
