- USA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE By Pauline A. Owusu CHICAGO: - The Ghana – USA Chamber of Commerce (GUSACC) based in Chicago held their inauguration at Chicago State University (CSU) Friday March 30, 2001. The occasion brought together numerous business-minded people who had
all but one thing in common, that is, doing business in Ghana. Organized
in conjunction with the Pan African Historical Theatre Festival Foundation
(PANAFEST) featured prominent guests GHANA CHOSEN TO RECEIVE THE 2001 LIBRARY OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS FELLOWSHIP CHICAGO:- Ghana has been chosen as the recipient nation for the 2001-2001
Library of International Relations (LIR)/Chicago Consular Corps Fellowship.
The scholarship of $10,000 is given annually to provide an international
legal scholar with the opportunity to have from one month to one semester
at Chicago-Kent College of Law and LIR for research, study and interaction
with the law of faculty as well as members of the Consular Corps and the
Library’s constituencies. For those who have relatives or loved ones in
the legal field back home, this is an opportunity to contact and let them
know about this tremendous opportunity to travel and study abroad. Applications
for the 2001-2002 LIR Fellowship are now being accepted. TOP
REGGAE ACTS FOR 20TH MARTINS INTL REGGAE AWARDS WEEKEND, OCHO
RIOS, JAMAICA JAMAICA:- The 20th Annual Martin’s International Reggae and World Music
Awards (IRAWMA) Weekend, takes place, on May 10-14 2001, at Renaissance
Jamaica Grande Resorts, and in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Martin’s Inter- Culture,
Ltd, and the International Reggae and World Music Association present
this grand celebration honoring the best in Reggae and World Beat entertainment.
Ephraim Martin, President of Martin’s Inter - Culture, Ltd., announced
that over 150 nominees were named for Awards and special recognition in
39 categories. HAITIAN ART EXHIBIT AT CSU DRAWS COUNTRYS CULTURE CLOSER TO CHICAGO by Nii Okaijah CHICAGO:- Depicting Chicago State University’s thrust toward cultural
enrichment, the university recently brought the beautiful art of the Caribbean
country of Haiti closer to Chicagoans. Hundreds of people including faculty,
students and community residents turned up January 24 through March 1
to admire a colorful exhibit of 20 original pieces by top Haitian artists
on display in CSU President’s Gallery. The exhibit was hosted by CSU’s
Department of Art and Design in connection with Black History Month. |
