William J. Atta Leaves the Ghanaian community in Chicago
with a Gap that would be hard to fill

CHICAGO:
As some people in other parts of the world listened to the horror about
the simultaneous earthquakes in India, Egypt and Ohio; as others listened
in to the downing of an airplane and an accident on Interstate 55 that
unleashed a plague of melancholic agony on victim’s families, the Ghana
community in Chicago would be rocked with the news that “our humanitarian
and altruistic son” William J. Atta, 44, a.k.a. “Kalele” had been killed
in a hit-and-run accident in the wee hours on Sunday, January 28, 2001.

BROTHERS KWAME AND KOFI DO IT AGAIN WITH NEW RELEASE YOUNG SONS

The
boys have done it again! Kwame and Kofi, the boys from New Jersey, with
the help of their thoughtful father, Dr. Yaw Frimpong, have released their
second album appropriately called “Young Sons.” One may recall that in
October of last year, we introduced the boys to you with their album “Sons
Of The Thunder.” Since then, they have persistently pursued their dreams
and this new album demonstrates that these boys are really serious about
their music.

SEEKS TO BECOME PREMIER LAWYER SERVICE ORGANIZATION

J. Birnbaum, president and CEO of Attorneys’ Title Guaranty Fund, Inc.
(ATG) welcomed ATG member roland Burris, former Illinois Comptroller,
to ATG’s holiday dinner dance following its annual meeting at the Ritz
Carlton. several hundred attorney-members and their guests attended the
event - a celebration of ATG’s mission to become the premier lawyer service
organization for the benefit of the public and the profession.

EMPHASIS ON RESEARCH TEACHING YIELDS CSU $22.4 MILLION IN GRANTS

New emphasis on research-supported instruction at Chicago State University
is generating increased federal and state grant funding. During fiscal
year 2000, CSU received $22.4 million in grants compared with $21.1 million
in 1999, Ken Koroma, the university’s associate vice president for Sponsored
Programs disclosed.
