GHANA VOTES by Ambassador Joseph Amamoo On Dec. 7, 2000, while Americans were in the throes of unraveling the
legal and other technicalities of their presidential and congressional
elections, the people of Ghana went to the polls. The Ghana elections
may be of some interest to many Americans. Why? Because of the 13 percent
of the U.S. population of African descent, many of them originated from
Ghana, going by the number of forts and castles (in reality trading posts)
built on the West African coast during the period of the Slave Trade. KICKING BUTT IN THE NEW YEAR by Arthur Hawkins II It’s that time again. Time to make your New Year’s Resolution,
yet another promise to stop smoking. But this time it really can be different.
You or your loved ones can finally break free. 40 million Americans have
stopped smoking and so can you. Here are some things to get you started
on the road to smoke-freedom: NEW FOUNDATION ESTABLISHED TO BOOST DEMOCRACY & PROGRESS IN AFRICA by Nii Okaijah A new foundation, named after former Nigerian Head of State, General
Abdulsalami Abubakar, has been established in Chicago to provide support
for democracy in Africa and provide scholarships for African youths to
study the sciences and technology. |
