CHICAGO CELEBRATES AFRICA AT AFRICAN FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS LABOR DAY WEEKEND

CHICAGO-The largest celebration of African art and culture in the Midwest will be held when Africa International House presents the 11th Annual Chicago Tribune African Festival of the Arts, Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-4, in Washington Park at 55th and Cottage Grove. The hours are 11a.m. to 10p.m. The African Festival of the Arts promises to fully delight the five senses with its resounding musical sounds, dazzling performances, vivid visual artistry, craft making and mouth-watering cuisine.

Ghanaian Coordinates Fabulous Awards Dinner

CHICAGO:- Jacoby D. Dickens, chairman of Chicago Seaway National Bank, the world’s largest black-owned bank, is to be honored at a major banquet on Thursday, September 7 for his generous support for higher education. According to Chicago State University Foundation Executive Director Katey Assem, Dickens will be honored at the fabulous 6th Annual Friends of Chicago State University(CSU) Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Chicago Hotel. Assem said the awards dinner is generating tremendous interest from all sections of the community because of Dickens’s support for worthy causes.

 

OHIO PLAYERS, BOBBY WOMACK AND HUGH MASEKELA HEADLINE AFRICAN FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

Chicago-An unprecedented lineup of the biggest names in music—The Ohio Players, Bobby Womack, Fontella Bass and Hugh Masekela—will provide main stage entertainment when Africa International House presents the 11th Annual Chicago Tribune African Festival of the Arts, Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-4, in Washington Park at 55th & Cottage Grove. The hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
