CSU FOUNDATION HEAD ASSEM SWEARS IN BEN LARTEY AS CHICAGO’S GA-ADANGBE LEADER New leader pledges to boost ties between Chicago and Accra By Nii Okaijah A large number of Ghanaians and African American recently attended an
impressive swearing in ceremony of newly-elected officials and appointees
of the Ga-Adangbe Community Organizations, a Chicago grouping of indigenous
citizens of Greater Accra, capital of Ghana. The swearing in was performed
by Katey Assem, executive director of Chicago State University Foundation.
DEPAUL OFFERS A UNIQUE STUDY OF CHICAGO’S BRONZEVILLE AREA CHICAGO:- New York’s Harlem was not the only urban enclave to provide
a rich surge of Black culture during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Chicago’s Black Metropolis, better known as Bronzeville, was once considered
a cradle of Black heritage. DePaul University is now offering a study
of this community that includes classes, field research and an oral history

iced tea for family and friends who encouraged her to market her famous
formula. Her husband, Michael, also encouraged her through his personal
health and allergy to carbonation. To her amazement, she discovered that
most iced teas were “horrible flavored waters”. JEWEL-OSCO AWARDS 12 SCHOLARSHIPS TO CHICAGO AREA EIGTH GRADERS MELROSE PARK, IL:- Jewel-Osco salutes excellence by awarding 12 eighth
graders with scholarships for outstanding academic achievement. The awards
ceremony marked the 43rd consecutive year Jewel-Osco has awarded aspiring
students for their outstanding academic performances. Cozette Buckney
(CPS Chief Education Officer), Darnell Allen(Director of Human resources
for Jewel-Osco along with Charles Schroek(Manger of CityWide Programs/School
Partnership Program) awarded the 12 students with scholarships ranging
form $1,500 to $5,000. PETERSON OUTLINES HEAT/BLACKOUT EMERGENCY PLAN The Chicago Housing Authority’s CEO Terry Peterson today warned public
housing residents of the dangers of hot weather and outlined the agency’s
plans for dealing with a heat crisis or a power outage. “We want to make
absolutely sure that a heat crisis in Chicago is not a personal crisis
for our seniors and our residents with disabilities,”
