AFRICA CALLS - “THE PLIGHT OF AFRICA”

The current annual gathering of heads of state at the United Nations, in New York, has caused much public reflection on the miserable plight of Africa. And it’s right and proper that the U.N, with all its other problems, is placing due emphasis on Africa. For although at present Africa is the poorest continent, and has been so for several decades, in reality the continent is the richest in the world, in terms of natural and mineral resources.

CACC DISCUSSES AFRICAN BUSINESS ETHICS

CHICAGO:- The Continental Africa Chamber Of Commerce (CACC) held a seminar at the Harris Bank last month touching on issues concerning the ethics of doing business in Africa. On hand to lecture about this topic were CACC President David Olupitan, board member Dr. Ewa Ewa, Winfred L. Watson of Harris Bank, Ambassador Joseph Amamoo, and Pat Sonjani of the South African Consulate among others.

Being a person of African descent, I’m known to have dark skin. It is not choice of mine, a privilege of mine or a downfall of mine. In fact I am very proud of the race that I am. I feel that none should be ashamed of their race. But some people cannot accept the fact that being a certain color that is different from yours is not a downfall to the other person but a privilege for you to learn more and open up to new things and new worlds.

 

A PILLAR OF CHICAGO’S GHANAIAN COMMUNITY FALLS

He was a fixture at the Ghanaian community’s celebrated annual Ghanafest in Washington Park. Always decked out in gorgeous, colorful traditional robes, he would flamboyantly ride around the festival grounds on horseback greeting the crowd, socializing with everyone, and acknowledging the well-wishes of his numerous admirers, after the fashion of a true traditional leader, which he was.
