Air Afrique Board Elects New Chairman

ABIDJAN, Cote d’Ivoire (PANA) - The Senegalese Minister of Transport, Madieyna Diouf, has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors of the multinational airline, Air Afrique, in replacement of his compatriot, Tidjane Sylla. Diouf, 63, was elected during a board meeting held Monday at the multi nationalairline’s headquarters in Abidjan, the commercial hub of Cote d’Ivoire.

Detecon, MSI Acquire 35 Percent Stake In Tanzania Telecom

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania (PANA) - The Germany-based telecommunications conglomerate, Detecon, and MSI of the Netherlands Wednesday acquired 35 percent of the share capital of the state-owned Tanzania Telecommunications Company.

Donors To Examine Congo’s Rehabilitation Programme

BRAZZAVILLE, Congo (PANA) - A meeting of donors has been scheduled to take place in Geneva 6 July to examine the new post-conflict programme drawn up by the government of Congo (Brazzaville). The provisional three-year programme (2000-2002) adopted 15 July by the National Transitional Council (Parliament), is to cost 511 billion CFA francs.

LIBREVILLE, Gabon (PANA) - A Gabonese navy ship has rescued 49 persons who were in anguish after an Angolan vessel on which they were travelling broke down in Gabon’s territorial waters, it was disclosed Wednesday.
