KIZZY AWARDS SALUTES THE MOTHERLAND
CHICAGO:- For 23 years, the Kizzy Award has bestowed honors on some of
the most influential and trailblazing women of African descent. The brainchild
of Mr. Jon Alexander Daye, Host of Loop TV, Channel 25, the event seeks
“to fix or counter the irresponsible lies and cruel media distortions
that depicted black women as overweight mammies.”
Rev. Dr. Shelvin Jerome Hall, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, at
5200 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago will deliver the main message, at the Prayer
vigil, Monday, July 3, 7:00am to 9:00 am. in Washington Park, 55th St
and South Cottage Grove, Chicago. AFRICAN FESTIVAL OF ARTS By Pauline A. Owusu CHICAGO:- For the past 11 years, the African Festival of the Arts has
been the one annual event that closes summer with a grand celebration
of activities spanning the entire month of August. The African Festival
is a cultural expression of the experiences in the African Diaspora. The
African Festival showcases and celebrates Black creativity through a multi-dimensional
engagement of all of the senses: art & crafts, music and dance, the smell
and tastes of foods from all over, the colors and general ambience of
the festival and the strong community support by our people. CHICAGO INITIATES ANIOMA CHAPTER
CHICAGO:- Some members of Anioma USA gathered here to initiate the new
Chicago Chapter. Anioma people originate from the Delta State area in
Nigeria and comprises of Aniocha, Ndokwa, Ika, Oshimili, Madu and Aniocha.
The function held here aimed to “promote unity and to support efforts
at improving the lives of our people here at home in Nigeria.”
CHICAGO:- Former Illinois Attorney General Roland W. Burris has become
a member of Attorneys’ Title Guaranty Fund, Inc., (ATG), a lawyer-based
service organization whose core business is to provide residential real
estate and trust services. |
