OPERATION HOPE INC., TO EMPOWER UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES

CHICAGO: -Allegro Hotel became the sight of hope for the future when Operations HOPE, Inc. brought its excellent team there to present their agenda. This empowerment program make the assertion that "individuals, respective of the their financial or social standing, have the power to make choices, and in so doing to create change in their individual lives by virtue of the choices they make." John Bryant, 34, CEO and Chairman of Operation HOPE, Inc. sums it all up he says, "there is a difference between being broke and being poor. Being broke is temporary economic situation, but being poor is a disabling frame of mind. I will never, ever be poor again."

The programs of Operation HOPE, Inc., are all public/private partnerships, involving and bringing together the community, the private sector and government. They provide a wide range of coordinated community lending and financial services made available through the network of member commercial banks and savings and loan financial institutions. They provide a hands-on education and on-site computer training. Other services include convenient cash access (ATM), community bill payment location, financial and credit education, credit and financial counseling/case management, access to credit, market rate loans, insurance and investment series, check cashing services and tax preparation services.

Their programs also provides 3 hours of informative economic education to individuals and families providing them with tools and resources that allow them to make "wiser and more informed decisions" including Credit, Home Buying, Small Business, investment and Computer Training Workshops.

The Banking of the Future program is a leading youth economic literacy program teach kids 6th grade through 12th grade, the basics of checking account, savings account and the importance of credit and investment. The loan center program provides education; counseling, case management and loans for home ownership in inner city and under-served communities. Services offered include complimentary credit report, one on one home loan counseling, Government Loans, conventional loans, 100 % loan to purchase financing, low to moderate census tract no cost, no fee loans, 95% loan to purchase jumbo loans and Real Estate service referral.

After outlining the aims and goals of Operation HOPE, the convention shifted to the Charles A. Hayes Center where the elaborate schemes to empower communities continued. Assisted by a strong supporting cast including Fred S. Smith, President and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Preston Martin, Chairman and Former Vice Chairman of Federal Home Loan Bank, Reks Brobby, VP, Chief of Communications among others, the group is America’s first non-profit investment banking organization, and the nation’s leading provider of economic education.
