Minneapolis-based paint manufacturer Chemrex is donating approximately 11,500 gallons of Radiance, its patented, energy-saving low-e, latex paint to the Chicago Housing Authority.

Youth Service Project, Inc., will award two $20,000 scholarships to young leaders from the Humboldt Park community at its first annual Youth Expo 2000 on Friday, June 23 at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

KIZZY AWARDS SALUTES MOTHERLAND

In its 23rd year, the Kizzy Awards heightens to its efforts to help ‘reconnect the dots’ i. e re-connect Africans with African-Americans, “So that we may be further blessed and strengthened,” says the popular television talk show host. “By pulling together all of ‘our parts (dots) we are made whole again. When you know who you are, and understand your individual purpose, as well as our collective mandate, Black people will be ale to place ourselves at the head of the table.”

Delmark Records

Delmark Records, Chicago’s very own “world-class” blues and jazz recording label will feature many of it’s artists at this year’s Chicago Blues Fest 2000, June 8th thru 11th in Grant Park.

The stellar Delmark line up will feature the legendary Little Milton with Eddie Cusic on the Juke Joint Stage from 4:30 - 6:00pm; a rare appearance by guitar phenom Lurrie Bell on the Gibson Crossroads Stage at 4:30pm; W.C. Handy Award nominee Aron Burton with Maddog Lester on the Juke Joint Stage at 8:20pm; and The Little Milton Review with special guest Warren Haynes will perform on the Petrillo Music Shell stage on Thursday, June 8th.
